Apple removed the Freecash rewards app from the App Store after it operated for months harvesting user data and deceiving both consumers and the platform itself. The fraudulent application, which climbed to the top of app store rankings, evaded Apple's review process and scammed users before finally being pulled on April 14. The incident, which also saw Apple remove a counterfeit Ledger app the same day, prompted renewed scrutiny of the App Store's safety measures and review procedures.
